# Named family work and cast-choice replay

Family constructors identify work by a local role and algorithmic block coordinates. Fragment binding retains those identities with source-operation provenance. Generated movement has child roles; mid validation rejects ambiguous named work. Cast-order search and executable rewriting use these names instead of emission ordinals. Version-one checkpoints migrate ordinals at the checkpoint/construction boundary and save version-two named choices. Missing named or legacy requests fail explicitly.

Validation:

- Workspace release suite: 429 passed, 0 failed, 8 ignored. Includes migration/replay and name-ambiguity regressions.
- Q/K choice regression adds an earlier V cast, verifies the old ordinals actually change, replays the same named Q/K choices, and constructs valid low kernel calls for both ordinary and packed K inputs.
- SDK-enabled saved_search_preserves_budget_aliases_and_order passed with package construction and checkpoint replay.
- FP16 MLP Repeat 3, FP8 ViT Repeat 3, and saved real-weight SigLIP So400m 27-layer BS1 packages are byte-identical to the hardware-validated exchange-relocation stage. Device execution was not repeated for identical packages. That full model previously passed six real images, minimum cosine 0.994567066 against FP32.
- Full-model build-only time 95.218 s, peak host RSS 4,412,804 KiB. Concurrent host checks make this a validation sample, not a controlled timing comparison.
- Workspace all-target checking and formatting/whitespace checks passed.

Commands, logs and build-comparison.json are adjacent. Test logs are /tmp/ipu-sites-workspace-tests.log, /tmp/ipu-sites-replay-test.log, /tmp/ipu-sites-check-final.log and /tmp/ipu-sites-format.log.

Scoped ownership, packing, donation and grouping policies remain open, as do the other requirements in docs/COMPILER_STRUCTURE_PROPOSAL.md. This stage does not establish an overall code-size reduction.
