# Scoped panel packing

Recipe records panel rows and an absolute workspace owner map for each named copy. The destination keeps its layout and home. Packing discovers feasible choices before rewriting and rejects unavailable requests before mutating the program. Search retains the existing four joint row alternatives; layout/cast proposals can explicitly discard affected packing choices. Joint physical relabeling includes workspaces through the common tensor owner-map implementation. Version-five checkpoints resolve old global row hints once and preserve search effort while clearing unresolved legacy visit identities.

Validation:

- Release workspace tests: 438 passed, 0 failed, 8 ignored, including doctests. All-target checking and formatting pass without warnings.
- SDK saved-search replay passes, covering budget, visits, results and physical scheduling across resumed and uninterrupted searches.
- Four nondefault packing cases (128/256 panel rows, with/without a factor-axis view) produce low graphs identical to e040adf8. The comparison hook and snapshots are preserved here; the hook is absent from production sources.
- A new behavioral test packs one copy across 60 tiles while retaining its separate 10-tile result home and preserving an unrelated copy. It covers low expansion and placement, invalid/stale choices, recipe serialization, and joint mapping equivalence.
- A high-graph checkpoint test resolves a global row hint into two named choices, preserves the attempt budget, replays the resulting mid program, rejects an obsolete choice, and verifies that an explicit layout proposal removes only the affected choice.
- Fresh default MLP FP16 Repeat3, small ViT FP8 Repeat3, and real-weight 27-layer SigLIP packages are byte-identical to the preceding ownership stage. The full-model compatibility build takes 85.473 s with peak host RSS 4,379,820 KiB. This is not a controlled timing comparison.
- A four-attempt small ViT FP8 Repeat3 search passes on hardware: minimum cosine 0.996962352, maximum absolute error 0.215820. Its package is byte-identical to the preceding stage and its schema-five checkpoint retains four attempts and fourteen visited recipes. This search does not select packing; nondefault packing is covered by the low-equivalence, expansion/placement and checkpoint tests above, not a new device run.

Commands, checkpoints, packages, logs and comparison results are adjacent. The full compiler-structure refactor remains unfinished: grouping scope, mixed attention state, resolved operand/local-copy binding, cache evaluation and the final size/extension audit remain.
